ABOUT ME
I, Jeremiah Tompkins, have been working in the off-road industry for over 15 years. I purchased my first jeep, a 95 Wrangler, in the late 90's. On my first day owning it, I went for a drive and got stuck While using some mountain ingenuity to get back on the road, I soon learned that Stock Sucks. This began my addiction of building jeeps.
In the mid 2000's I bought my first TJ, which led me to a local company, Hanson Offroad. Hanson Offroad was one the premier bumper manufactures. While talking to the owner he offered me a job as a salesman, and before long I worked as the VP of the company. During my time at Hanson Offroad, I had the pleasure of owning many different jeeps. I owned 2 TJ's, 2 LJ's and 3 JK's. They were all built as Hanson's show jeeps, which allowed me to chose the best products on the market. I learned a great deal about jeeps, including the many facets of off road suspension and the driving-characteristics of different suspension kits. During this time, my to addiction to jeeps became full blown. I had the pleasure of wheeling the Rubicon, Moab, and tons of local trails, and I even got to explore Colorado a couple times.
When I left Hanson, I started focusing on exploring the outdoors, and I found myself hiking at least a couples times a week. I began building jeeps so that I could hike and explore in more remote places. My time outdoors encouraged me to start a t-shirt company, HikeBikeDrive, with the hopes of inspiring others to spend more time in nature. I wanted to build a company jeep, and one of my good friends who had recently started working at Metalcloak, suggested I try their products. I was very happy with their products, and found that with some customization, I could make jeeps drive even better than stock. I built a few personal jeeps during this time, and with each one I had the goal of creating the best driving and wheeling jeeps possible. I became focused on building jeeps and decided to get back into the off road industry.
Soon I was offered a job at a start-up off road shop, RB Offroad. I was excited to be working with my friend Scott Ralph, a very talented fabricator. While working at RB Offroad, I specialized in building jeeps with Metalcloak and Synergy lift kits. My focus was building the best-handling jeeps that allowed the most articulation possible. Working at RB Offroad helped me to take my builds to the next level.
In 2014, I decided to open my own business, Because Stock Sucks. My true passion is driving a bad ass jeep in nature, and I wanted to assist others in building jeeps so they could have the same experience. Throughout my years in the off road industry, I have found that most jeeps get built multiple times because the customers' end-goals weren't considered. My goal is to listen to you and help provide parts to assist you in building a jeep that exceeds your needs. I have owned over thirty well-built jeeps and been involved in building hundreds of them. During this time I tested many products, and I will use my knowledge to help you build your jeep right the first time. I believe that spending time in nature is food for our soul, but I also know that needing to fix your jeep on the trail can lead to an awful day. So I will do my best to help provide you with a quality build, your Jeep can be Built To Explore More.....Because Stock Sucks
